Q & A with author Lena Nelson Dooley

Please welcome Lena Nelson Dooley to New Horizon Reviews.

Michelle: Lena, can you briefly describe your novel `A Heart's Gift`?
Lena:    A Heart's Gift is a marriage of convenience book that turns into a suspense in the last part.
Michelle: What's the most memorable "rabbit-trail" one of your characters took you on?
Lena:    Actually, I can't remember a rabbit trail, unless it's when the hero goes looking for the doctor and the doctor can't come because there has been a cave-in at the mine.
Michelle: What upcoming release are you most looking forward to?
Lena:    I have a book that just released (June 29) on Amazon Kindle. It's a 4th of July novella collection with 9 stories. I'm both the publisher and one of the authors. The stories are varied, and three of the authors are debut authors.
Michelle: What do you think is significant about Christian fiction?
Lena:    All of the Christian novels I've read have been interesting stories (in several genres) that show how characters deal with some of the same things as all of us. There are some failures and defeats, and there are some victories, just like real life. A lot of people want a good clean read. That's what we give them.
Michelle: What inspired you to write your book, `A Heart's Gift`?
Lena:    A Heart's Gift percolated in my heart and brain for a long time before I wrote it. I do think that God often drops story ideas into my mind, and they grow there. There were some surprises that I didn't anticipate as I wrote it.
Michelle: What's your favorite writing environment?
Lena:    When my daughters got married and left home, I turned one of their bedrooms into my office. I write using a desktop with an HD wide-screen monitor.
Michelle: Please tell us one random thing your readers might not know about you.
Lena:    I'm a recovering perfectionist. Life's much easier now.
Michelle: If you were to live one day in the life of one of your characters, who would it be? Why?
Lena:    Probably Katarina Slaughter, the heroine in Strange Voices in the Night, my story in the novella that released.

Lena, Thank you for your time and for visiting New Horizon Reviews.
