Review: Union With Christ

`Union With Christ` is a spiritual growth book written by author Rankin Wilbourne. Author Rankin Wilbourne grew up in Louisiana and has a degree from the University of Mississippi and Princeton Theological Seminary. He is presently the senior pastor of Pacific Crossroads Church in Los Angeles.

Union With Christ is about how believers in Christ can experience the Good News of the Bible. Union With Christ is what the gospel is about. The central theme is the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. It answers foundational questions about identity, destiny, and purpose. Union With Christ reveals the transformational power while addressing the basic questions of the human heart. As believers, we no longer need to find our identity in ourselves, but we find our identity in Jesus. When we have our identity in Christ we will know why we are here, where we are headed, and how we get there.

I like how the author explains in simple terms our unity with Christ. Union With Christ is nothing more than practical living. The recovery of this reality provides the anchor for your life with God. Your destiny is to become like Christ. Christ has fully atoned for you, He is now living in you if you are a believer. I agree with this quote from Tim Keller, "This is simply the best book for laypeople on this subject."

The author's goal for this book is to return union with Christ to a living reality, central to the life of all believers. Many pastors have left out union with Christ and either preach all grace or all works. Union in Christ means we are in Him, and He is in us. Faith is finding your identity in Christ (pg# 135) I recommend this book to Believers and Seekers.
